Fir Villa Care Home
Fir Villa Residential Care Home is a privately owned home that sits midway between Sherborne and Yeovil in Somerset. The main home caters for up to 20 residents across two floors and was fitted with a hardwired conventional fire alarm system and an aging hardwired nurse call system. In 2013 the cottage in the garden was converted for assisted living and the home owners took this opportunity to upgrade both the fire alarm and the nurse call to ensure that they were fully compliant and always there for the residents.
An EMS Firecell system was installed in two days with fire cover being maintained at all times between the new and the old systems. The radio system was chosen as it to causes as little disruption as possible to the residents and allows for full coverage to be provided to the cottage without the need to dig up the car park.
A Courtney-Thorn wireless nurse call system was fitted a few days later with a host of new features for the home and management to utilise. The staff now have pagers and can respond to calls quicker and more efficiently. The cottage is also fitted with nurse call equipment allowing the residents’ independence whilst also having round the clock care.
