Fire Doors
Fire Door Surveys
Our accredited Fire Door Inspectors can complete an annual, fully independent, comprehensive fire door inspection for you. For customers that already have a fire alarm maintenance contract with us, this can be carried out at the same time as a scheduled service and therefore reduce the cost.
The report includes for assessment of the following:
- Stability and integrity of the door
- Stability and integrity of the frame
- Intumescent and smoke seal check
- Hinges
- Door closers
- Ironmongery
- Glazing and glass
- Gaps around the door
Each fire door is numbered and the results displayed in an easy to navigate format.
Fully Independent
What do we mean when we say that we are fully independent? Quite simply, we mean that we are not a fire door company. We do not make, sell or repair fire doors, therefore we are not benefitting from any works required following the report.
We can however, happily put you in touch with companies that can help with any remedial works required.
Your Legal Obligation
New fire safety legislation came into effect on 1st October 2023, amending section 156 of the Building Safety Act 2022. This has strengthened the duties of the Responsible Person, and introduced an Accountable Person who has overall responsibility for the building. For most small businesses this is likely to be the same person or persons.
The best way to demonstrate that the fire doors within your building are compliant is to have a Fire Door Survey carried out. This will also be taken into consideration by the Fire Risk Assessment (FRA) and may actually be a require action following an FRA.
If you are a property manager or responsible person for a residential building over 11 metres, a Fire Door Survey is a legal requirements as per The Fire Safety (England) Regulations 2022. The 11 metres are measured from between the lowest inhabited floor level to the highest inhabited floor level, not to the highest point on the roof. For most properties this will be four stories or above.
